چکیده

Results from simulation model of an 802.11 WLAN system that suffers in performance due to interference problems are presented. The effect on performance due to change in fragmentation thresholds are shown in terms of traffic sent, received, and retransmission attempts with and without RTS/CTS mechanism. It is shown that for the modeled system a fragmentation threshold value of 256 to 500 octets would be optimal and minimizes the interference with least number of retransmissions causing a higher throughput.

A Novel Compact Ultra-Wideband Antenna with Single and Double Band Rejection

Band-notch characteristic has been of great interest recently to overcome the electromagnetic interference of Ultra-wideband systems (UWB) with other existing ones. In this paper, we present a novel microstrip-fed antenna with band rejection property appropriate for UWB applications. Band-notch characteristic has been achieved by adding a rectangular resonant element to the ground section. A pr...

Dual-Band Evanescent-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide Band-pass Filter for WLAN Applications

A new multi-layer substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) structure is developed to design dual-band evanescent-mode band-pass filters (BPFs). Two independent series LC circuits are implemented by incorporating metallic irises in the different layers of the structure. The combination of the metallic irises with capacitive-plates is embedded inside the SIW to independently excite two evane...

Electromagnetic Interference Immunity Testing of Medical Equipment to WLAN IEEE 802.11 Systems

Studies have proposed that wireless local area networks (WLAN) can be applied in medical applications to enhance the quality of patient care, such as patient monitoring systems and hospital admission systems. However, there has been concern regarding the effect of electromagnetic interference (EMI) on medical equipment from wireless communication devices, especially those at close proximity to ...

Maximising Signal Strength inside Buildings for Wireless Lan Systems Using Ofdm

Propagation inside buildings suffer from large shadowing and high multipath effects. This is a serious problem for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) systems. OFDM has a high multipath tolerance and this paper shows how this can be used to overcome the problems due to shadowing. OFDM allows a base station to transmit and receive the same signal at the same frequency from multiple locations, at ...

Experimental Evaluation of Coexistence Method for ZigBee under WLAN Interference

—ZigBee has attracted attention for constructing the sensor network such as home energy management system. Both ZigBee and wireless LAN (WLAN) use a 2.4GHz band, called the industrial, scientific, and medical unlicensed band; therefore, ZigBee faces severe interference problems in the presence of WLAN. Frame collisions are serious problems between ZigBee and WLAN. Both employ a carrier sense m...
